Thank You, SFMS!
Sarah Grace Serrano Alcaraz (4C1 2009)
There is no word in the English dictionary that can possibly express how thankful i am that i have chosen sfms.
At first, I was uncertain about sfms since I belonged in the class with the most diversity of races. My class ranged from Filipino =), thais, cambodian, korean, vietnamese, chinese, singaporeans, even russian and south african, myanmar etc. But because of this, we never ran out of things to ramble about. From learning how to say "i love you" in our own languages to learning how to speak English in different accents. Unknowingly, i started loving that tiny school at upp bukit timah road. Everyday, i looked forward on going to school checking to see if one of my classmates was going be late again or who was going crack a joke in class this time etc I learnt to get along with all sorts of people and developed a bubbly personality because of my peers who did not judge me in the way I spoke or the country which I came from.
In my 2nd and 3rd year, I became more familiar to the people in the school, from the receptionists at level 4 to Uncle Tim at the canteen or even the guard at M floor who said hi to me each morning and says bye at the end of the day. SFMS was the school where i truly felt accepted just as the way i am. The teachers were also very accomodating to me. Whenever i asked for assistance or extra classes, they would just pull out their schedules without any hesitance =) This is the kind of treatment which none of the other government schools would ever have.
Sfms taught me to work hard in my studies without compromising my life a teenager.
In essence, my experience in sfms may be considered as the best time of my life. It is where I found friendship in which neither distance nor time will break, teachers who inspired me to work hard in everything I do and never failed to believe in my talents and abilities even if I had already given up myself. SFMS's corridors and classrooms hold my precious memories. Thank you sfms for making me the person that i am today =)
